Harley Davidson and a new menu: spring madness!
Categories : Saint-Tropez, published on : 4/20/16
The Var coast, already dressed in the colours of spring, will soon be decked out in leather and steel to celebrate one of the biggest events of the season, the Harley Davidson Euro-Festival. The Bastide de Saint-Tropez welcomes you for 4 days of fun in the sun at this world-famous celebration of the iconic American motorcycle brand. At the same time, Chef Philippe Colinet invites you to discover his new menu, here in the heart of one of the loveliest settings on the French Riviera, close to the Place des Lices.
The Gulf of St. Tropez welcomes an American legend
Harley Davidson, an iconic brand since 1903, will soon celebrate its 10th annual gathering of enthusiasts on the shores of the Gulf of Saint-Tropez. Held this year from April 28th to May 1st, the Harley-Davidson Euro Festival will be, as always, an exceptional event brimming with the beautiful bikes that have become an American legend, along with live music, tours of the area, parades, demo rides, competitions and much more. From the coast to the picturesque inland village of Grimaud, the purr and roar of finely tuned engines will turn all heads as Harley Davidsons weave along the streets amidst a chic and relaxed atmosphere.
A gathering of the passionate and the curious
The most popular Harley rally on the calendar allows enthusiasts to meet and share their passion, while encouraging the general public to get to know this friendly biker community who are so committed to a brand that inspires love and loyalty in its adherents. Last year’s edition gathered together more than 15,000 bikers, and the event grows in popularity year on year. Come and soak up the special atmosphere of the beautiful Var region of southern Provence, catch some live music and relax with friends in the welcoming local bars, nightclubs and restaurants. The main stage will dominate the beachfront for 4 days of dancing.
Attractions and rewards
Of particular interest among the many attractions planned will be the Custom Bike Show on the village square, where the best customisations and most beautiful machines will be recognised and rewarded. Then Saturday, April 30th offers the grand parade that brings together thousands of bikers on their gleaming chrome mounts to make their stately way through the narrow, cobbled streets of gorgeous Grimaud. An awesome spectacle not to be missed!
The Bastide; our chef's new menu
At the Bastide de Saint-Tropez, gourmets are welcomed in the restaurant l'Olivier, an oasis of zen tranquillity between the shade dappled garden and the swimming pool. It is in this warm haven, close to the centre of Saint-Tropez, that you will be received by Philippe Colinet and his team. Our chef, who has guided the course of our restaurant since 2014, offers the benefits of his vast culinary knowledge and considerable experience as he works his gastronomic magic.
A cuisine bursting with the flavours of the south
The menu, renewed with the seasons and always searching for new flavours, offers you the tempting choices of a cuisine imbued with a bistro ambience and a gourmet spirit. The new restaurant menu, true to the tradition of the place, finds its inspiration in a southern cuisine made with fresh, local produce to provide a festival of flavours.
Land and sea come together in perfect harmony
Fresh, bright and creative, the menu of the Olivier is a harmonious blend of exquisitely flavoursome produce from land and sea, with tastes and textures celebrating Mediterranean cuisine. To honour the earth, the menu offers fried duck foie gras, asparagus du Gard, pigeon or roast veal or leg of milk-fed lamb delicately seasoned with thyme. To celebrate the sea, you can enjoy giant crab with fennel, grilled oysters, and wild Saint-Pierre lobster.
Ideal accompaniments
Each dish finds its perfect accompaniment, its alter-ego. The sublime flavours of exceptional produce such as lemon grass tomatoes, aubergines or pickled onions and potted vegetables come lusciously to the fore while maintaining their Mediterranean identity. This cuisine, in all its subtlety and finesse, happily embodies the spirit of southern France.
And finally...
To conclude, the chef suggests the refined cheese platter, to be followed by some original desserts in the form of cooked, caramelised or fresh fennel with aniseed flavoured ice cream, a delicious marriage between chocolate and spring strawberries, or other exquisite flavours celebrating green apple or strawberry.
An outstanding menu that could find no more enchanting setting than this restaurant in the shade of olive trees!
