Every year, we take advantage of the seasonal closure of our Hotel La Bastide de Saint-Tropez to do some maintenance work on our garden. So, once again this year when we reopen, you’ll find yourself amidst a lush oasis of greenery where you can relax and enjoy the gorgeous setting.

The charm of a Mediterranean garden

The Bastide de Saint-Tropez, with its traditional Provencal architecture, also draws its considerable charm from its exuberant garden. In Provence, from the first fine days of the year, the line between exterior and interior is erased, and life takes place on the terraces and in the gardens. The wide French doors of our rooms and suites open onto a paradise of greenery and flowers, with nodding leaves speckling the lawns with welcome shade when the heat becomes more intense. The venerable gnarled trunk of a hundred-year-old olive tree, palms swaying in the spring breeze, the deep rich fragrance of cypresses, and the abundant Mediterranean vegetation provide joy for all the senses.

An authentically Provençal atmosphere

Mimosas, oleanders, Washingtonia and Phoenix palms, olive trees, umbrella pines, orange, fig, lemon and clementine trees ... as you stroll in the gardens of the Bastide de Saint-Tropez you can admire a variety of local or more exotic species, all adding to the feeling of peace and wellbeing. We prefer not to impose rigid discipline on nature’s magnificent bounty. Long immaculate perspectives and regimented boxwoods are not the way we do things at La Bastide. Au contraire, here you can exult in intimate groves, watch multiple shades of green changing along with the day’s light, savour the mixed scents of citrus and coniferous trees warmed by the sun, and seek the cool, soft shade of pines and olive trees.

Beauty, freshness, colours, scents, a Provencal break is not the same without a garden. And that's where the magic can be found at La Bastide de Saint-Tropez ...
