Located less than 2 km from the Bastide de Saint-Tropez, the Lavoir Vasserot invites you to enjoy the numerous art exhibitions that are presented there throughout the year. Built in the mid-19th century, a meeting point for washerwomen in the 1960s, and listed as a historic monument in 1981, this unique place in Saint-Tropez has received a new lease of life for your enjoyment!
Upcoming events at the Lavoir Vasserot
During the spring of 2020, the Lavoir Vasserot cultural space will be hosting a series of solo exhibitions by contemporary artists. The sculptor, engraver and painter Matthieu Kuhn is featured from April 2nd to 8th. A superb opportunity to admire his beautiful landscapes, done in oil, ink or watercolour.
From April 9th to 15th, you can also discover the work of Klaus Meister. Initially a painter, this complete German artist is perhaps better known today for his sculpture creations. A logical step for those who fold their canvases to make a statement in three dimensions!
If you prefer painting, you’ll appreciate the works of Lorenzo Ciufici, presented at the Lavoir from April 23rd to 29th. These paintings without brush are powerfully coloured and inspired by natural elements.
Or you might wish to wait until April 30th for the Isabelle Tapie exhibition, which runs until May 6th. Through her paintings and sculptures, this former heritage restorer celebrates the fascinating balance between ‘raw’ and ‘precious’...
Useful information
The Lavoir Vasserot is located at 1 Rue Joseph Quaranta. It will only take you a few minutes to get there by car or taxi from the Hotel La Bastide de Saint-Tropez. If you prefer to walk, anticipate a journey of about twenty minutes. The museum is open to the public from Monday to Saturday, all day. Note that entry to the exhibitions is completely free.
